New Recruits Forum

Boot camp is behind you. The first duty station is in front of you. The first deployment is coming. A room for service members in their first two years, with veterans who remember every bit of it.

Everybody was a boot once. Nobody has to be one alone.

Who This Room Is For

For Service Members in Their First Two Years

Service members in their first enlistment, from every branch, with veterans and senior service members in the room.

The First Duty Station

Landing somewhere new, far from home, and figuring out the unit without embarrassing yourself.

The First Deployment

What it is really like, how to prepare your family, and what the veterans wish they had known.

The New Home Front

A new spouse, a first baby born on orders, and a family learning the life along with you.

How the Room Works

Private. Verified. Yours.

The conversation lives in the Uniform Families Foundation community on Circle, not on Facebook and not on this page. Every member is verified by us before they are let in. Request below, we confirm who you are, and your invitation comes by email.

  • Verified service members and veterans only, plus family in the family room. We confirm service before anyone is let in and never share it.
  • Nothing operational. No locations, dates, movements, or unit details that do not belong online.
  • What is said in the room stays in the room. No screenshots, no reposting.
  • Every branch is equal here. Leave the branch rivalry at the door, or at least keep it friendly.
  • Respect every era: Vietnam to Iraq to Afghanistan to today.
  • If someone is in crisis, we step in. The room is not a substitute for 988, press 1, the Veterans Crisis Line.

Why We Built This

Because the First Enlistment Decides the Rest

Uniform Families Foundation built this room so a new service member has veterans in their corner from the first duty station, and so a young military family does not learn the life the hard way.

Uniform Families Foundation communities are peer support and are not a substitute for professional care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988. Membership requires verification. We never share member information.
