Uniform Recovery

A Uniform Families Foundation Program

Uniform Recovery

For firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, medical workers, and service members and veterans who were hurt doing the job, and for the families carrying them through recovery. The call ended. The healing did not. We stay for the part nobody sees.

You carried everyone else. Let us carry you for a while.

Different Injuries. Same Roof.

A firefighter's back does not break the way a veteran's does. A paramedic hurt lifting a patient and an officer hurt in a pursuit are not living the same recovery. Uniform Recovery is one program with one door, and once you walk through it you are placed with people from your own pillar who understand your injury from the inside.

FirefightersBurns, falls, structural collapse, back and joint injuries, smoke and heat exposure.
ParamedicsLifting injuries, assaults on calls, ambulance crashes, the wear of a thousand patients.
Law EnforcementShootings, pursuits, assaults, vehicle collisions, injuries from every agency.
MedicalAssaults at the bedside, needle sticks, lifting injuries, the body cost of twelve hour shifts.
MilitaryCombat and training injuries, service connected conditions, active duty and veterans alike.

Who This Is For

Members of all five uniform pillars who were injured on the job or in service, whether they are on recovery leave, on light duty, medically retired, or carrying a service connected injury years later. Spouses and family members may reach out on their behalf.

What UFF Provides

Practical help for the recovery months, reviewed privately by UFF leadership. Financial help is for members on reduced pay or unpaid leave, because that is where the gap opens.

One Bill Paid

During reduced pay or unpaid recovery leave, UFF pays one bill, utility, car, insurance, or rent shortfall, so the injury does not become a second emergency.

The Appointment Months

Gas, parking, and meal gift cards for the stretch when life is a calendar of appointments and the hospital garage is the most expensive place in town.

Home Help

Yard work, house cleaning, a grocery run, or a handyman visit for the things you cannot do with a cast, a brace, or a body that needs rest.

Two Care Packages

One for the member and one for the spouse or partner, because recovery is a two person job and the second person is usually running on empty.

Counseling

Recovery is mental as much as physical. The Counseling Stipend covers sessions with a licensed professional outside your department or unit.

Your Children Are Covered

Children of injured members qualify for Trump Accounts for Uniform Kids and every Uniform Kids program we run.

Recovery Rooms by Pillar

Five private rooms on our community platform, one per pillar, so you talk recovery with people who got hurt doing what you do. Members are verified by UFF before they are placed. Rooms open soon.

How It Works

Three steps, and the member does not have to be the one who asks.

1. Reach OutThe member, a spouse, or a family member fills out the private form below.
2. We Verify PrivatelyUFF leadership confirms the pillar connection and the injury situation. Documents are reviewed privately and never published.
3. Help ArrivesA paid bill, gift cards, home help, care packages, counseling access, and a place in your pillar's recovery room.

Reach Out

This form goes only to UFF leadership. Spouses and family members are welcome to fill it out for the injured member.

We may ask for proof of service and of the injury situation. It is reviewed privately, used only to confirm eligibility, and never published. We do not contact your department, unit, or agency.

Stand With Them

Your gift pays the light bill during unpaid leave, fills the gas tank for the appointment months, sends someone to mow the lawn, and puts two care packages on the porch. Every dollar given here stays with Uniform Recovery.
